Dear Parishioners of St. Francis Xavier Church,
“Through trials and tribulations by God’s grace we triumph” As you know this is the theme of our church and school Centennial. It certainly describes the crisis we are experiencing throughout the world and in our country as we confront the corona virus.
On this Fifth Sunday of Lent our Gospel reading describes Jesus going to Bethany to console Martha and Mary on the death of their brother Lazarus. Jesus describes himself as the “Resurrection and the Life” and he says that anyone who puts their faith in Him will be able to face the trials and tribulations of life, and even death itself because God is with us at every moment of our lives. As St. Paul reminds us “If God is for us, who (or what) can be against us.”
Our prayer each day is that the Lord will keep us safe and well, that he will protect all our health care professionals and first responders who are on the front lines of this epidemic and that he will grant life and peace to those who have died.
Until we are able to join together again to worship the Lord at the Eucharist, we are united to each other in daily prayer.
May the Lord bless us and keep us. May the Lord let his face shine upon us and be gracious to us. May the Lord look upon us with kindness and grant us his gift of peace. Amen.
Stay well by God’s grace,
