St. Francis Xavier Parish, established in 1918, has evolved from a background enriched in African American heritage. The Josephite Fathers and Brothers, the Sisters of the Holy Family, and the founding members of the Parish have always had one objective in mind, that is, to serve. This service provides for the spiritual, educational, and social needs of the African American Catholic community. Under the unselfish and competent guidance of its leaders, an unbroken chain of service has been maintained. St. Francis Xavier continues to be a welcoming community as it extends its spiritual, educational, and social ministries to friends and neighbors of all races and all creeds, in a spirit of corroboration, yielding completely to God’s love.
